Squeeze - Cradle To The Grave album review (published in Metro, Sep 2015)

SQUEEZE
CRADLE TO THE GRAVE (Virgin)
***** out of 5

The choice of Squeeze to soundtrack Cradle To Grave, the hugely enjoyable BBC2 adaptation of Danny Baker's memoir Going To Sea In A Sieve, was perfect, both geographically, as Chris Difford and Glenn Tilbrook hail from Deptford (nextdoor to Baker's Bermondsey), and artistically, as few songwriters alive can touch them for narrative detail and emotional insight. Their first new album this century hits every button you expect from Squeeze: ten songs of warmly nostalgic, tenderly melodic guitar-pop. It is, like the book and the show, an unqualified joy.
