Duran Duran - Paper Gods album review (published in Metro, Sep 2015)

DURAN DURAN
PAPER GODS (Warner)
**** out of 5

And here we are,” sings Simon Le Bon, “back where it all began...” Duran Duran have stopped fighting their history, and started having fun with it. Paper Gods, whose artwork nods towards various DD classics, is co-produced by Nile Rodgers (who remixed “The Reflex”), and third track “You Kill Me With Silence” echoes 1982 ballad “The Chauffeur”. But retro references aren't everything: “Pressure Off” (featuring Janelle Monae), EDM banger “Danceophobia” (with Lindsay Lohan) and electropop fizzbomb “Change The Skyline” couldn't sound more 2015.
